LCD屏与离子屏哪一个是大屏幕平板TV的方向?
-- LCD. 离子屏once dominates the large screen market (for long time, LCD TV has production process problem and its size is limited to no more than 30 inch).
Koreans, Taiwanese and Jap firms are improving the process tech quickly and now defect rate is lowering---which means larger and larger LCD TV can be made at lower costs....
离子屏 can only be made profitably at large size--it pretty much limits itself to the TV market (no access to the monitor market, which is huge).
Now LCD tech is pushing up into the large screen TV market, what you expects of 离子屏's future???
Like a replay of car market in US since 1970s--between Jap and Big 3 US ones who are only good at making big cars...

1) do we have a chain of large/medium firms to participate in this new tech?
---because high R&D input and high costs to market
2) do we have a international competitive cluster of firms in this new tech?
--because the dramatic cost reduction in LCD is driven by cut-throat competition among these three nations/regions.
3) does it have incremental benefits to users WHICH ARE LARGE enough to persuade a switch?
4) or any *emerging niche market which can not be satisfied by the current LCD tech or completely ignored by LCD makers?
---this may become the cash cow for the so-called new tech from which the new tech can accumulate resources to challenge the LCD TV.
Otherwise, just pray that there is a rich billionaire like Bill Gates who are willing to throw money at this untested tech (a black hole) for at least 10 years...
