Business Title:
o Principal Engineer – Build & Release
Primary Job Responsbilities:
o Very strong technical leadership skills to lead large scale initiatives implemented by cross-functional teams that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance,scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals, principles and recognized industry standards.
o Take ownership of the quality and usability of the applications and infrastructure you produce.
o Cross team coordination with Product managers, Project managers, Engineers, QA, NOC, OPS and other teams to deploy innovative solutions to meet site stability and performance and developer productivity needs.
o Leading teams of software engineers to build our next-gen build and release tools
o Design, develop and support products throughout all phases of the life cycle
o Lead development initiatives, recommend improvements, mentor and guide developers in coding and design methodology
o Conceptualizing, coding, deploying, and iterating on current and next generation solutions
o Work well independently and in multi-group cross-discipline environments
o Flexible approach to analyzing technical issues and clearly communicating recommendations/solutions
o Scoping engineering effort, implementation, and site launch of new projects.
o Support site rollouts and available for on-call support to resolve site issues to eBay Marketplace needs
Job Requirements:
o Baschelor's Degree and 10+ years of years professional related experience or Master's Degree and 8+ years or Doctorate and 6+ years.
o Strong object Orientied design methodology and experience using Java, XSLT, JSP, JDBC
o Experience with servlets, JMS and EJBs
o Experience with object-oriented javascript, xml, XSL, HTML, and CSS
o Experience with bug management and source control systems including the understanding of merge, build and release paradigms within a software development organization
o Experience with Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP is required
o Experience with Maven, SVN, Hudson and other open source tools is a required.
o Experience with Perl and other scripting tools a plus Experience with Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest
o Good verbal and written communication skills in English
o Able to lead an engineering review / presentation with a audience of peers
o BSEE, CS or other relevant technical degree required.
