CPD Software Project Manager: Beijing, China
VMware Inc., a pioneer in virtualization software for industry-standard computers, is seeking Project Managers to join the Continuing Product Development team. This position is to build and manage a cross-functional team of engineers for QA and Product escalations. Work closely with CPD teams locally and abroad, interact with development engineering to drive product quality.
Strategic functions
• Host Manage VMware Engineering Development functions.
• Build a team of engineers for validating Product Quality for all the products.
• Build a Continuing Product Development team with focus on releases.
• Mentor new engineers into the team for process and adaptability
• Analyze gaps in people requirements and h/w requirements for new release deliverables. Plan and create timeline for closing the gaps for successful deliverable.
• Standardize practices and procedures based on a software development methodology across various teams.
• Build relationships between development and other key internal teams
• Create a strong sense of team direction.
• Mentor and guide team members, including offshore staff.
Day to day functions
In addition to managing a local team
• Co-ordinate with project lead report on status to engineering, program managers
• Plan and resolve h/w allocations across various projects.
• Work with project leads, managers to co-ordinate delivery of releases and discuss “hot issues”.
• Create training plans for engineers
• Help managers in procurement process
• Manage teams located with Vendors/Partners
Requirements:
Requirements:
• 10+ years in a software industry, of which 3+ years' experience managing multiple projects. Experience working with a Multinational US Software product company with China offshore Development center is preferred.
• Should have worked in product company related to Operating System or related business.
• Excellent teamwork and leadership skills
• Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple outstanding tasks
• Good communication, documentation, and organizational skills are required
• Must be experienced in software development methodology and software maintenance practices
