COMPANY BACKGROUND
Our client, the leading HR solution provider in China, offers a host of services in the areas of Recruitment Solutions, Training & Assessment, and HR Tools & Outsourcing. The firm is currently serving over 170,000 clients through 18 offices in Hong Kong and Mainland China, including the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Xian, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Kunming, Nanjing, Jinan, Dalian, Shenyang, Qingdao, Chongqing, Harbin and Changsha.
The firm is a privately-held company and currently has revenues approaching $40 million for the year. It is profitable and an Initial Public Offering (IPO) is anticipated within in the coming months.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Vice President, Finance (VP, Finance) will report to the Chief Financial Office (CFO).
RESPONSIBILITIES
The new VP Finance will assist the CFO in all financial reporting, auditing, profit planning, accounting policies and systems, as well as tax and treasury matters, strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting. After playing a key role in this year’s planned IPO, the VP Finance will be responsible for investor relations activities including roadshows and conferences, internal and external (including statutory) reporting.
The VP Finance will work closely with the CFO in formulating and leading the firm’s overall financial plans and activities. This will include financial reporting and controls, treasury, tax, investor and lender relations, strategic planning, financial analysis, financial systems management, and acquisitions. Specific responsibilities include assisting the CFO in:
Focusing on growing the business, optimizing existing systems, and bringing the financial picture into sharp focus.
Acting as a business partner to the CFO and a significant contributor to the strategic management of the firm.
Working with the CFO and CEO in coordinating the company's strategic planning process. Ensuring that efficient and accurate financial forecasting; planning and capital budgeting systems are in place. Directing the preparation of realistic operating budgets and management reports. Developing pricing/costing systems and coordinate critical and ongoing financial analysis activities of the company's operations focusing on cost containment and revenue maximization.
Presenting, analyzing and interpreting relevant financial data to the CFO, CEO, other line managers, and the Board of Directors. Developing financial performance measurements and make appropriate recommendations.
Developing and implementing plans to optimize the corporation's capital structure and the financial strategies to support growth and development.
Direct all treasury activities, including maintaining and expanding relationships with commercial and investment banks.
Provide financial leadership in joint ventures, partnerships, outsourcing agreements or other significant contractual arrangements.
Managing tax planning and reporting activities and provide a liaison with regulatory authorities.
Maintaining a system of internal controls and audit procedures including managing the company's relationship with its outside audit firm.
Being responsible for the development and management of the financial organization and professional staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate will be a highly experienced and well-regarded senior finance professional from a respected, growth-oriented company. He/she must be fluent in Mandarin (written and spoken) and must be open to making a swift relocation to China.
He/she must be a high energy, hands-on team player with excellent presentation skills and a positive sensitivity to people. Preferred candidates would already be known to and respected by “The Street” and ideally will have had some exposure to a successful IPO. He/she will be CFO ready in a year to two years’ time, to succeed the current CFO.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
The VP, Finance must be a motivated, action-oriented team player with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast growth environment. He/she must be able to lead, energize and influence a wide spectrum of people including senior colleagues, financial and operational staff. The VP, Finance must also be able to clearly and succinctly communicate with the company’s venture capital investors and The Board the operational, financial and strategic results and goals of the company. Additionally, ideal candidate will be:
An executive with a high level of personal and professional integrity and intellectual honesty.
Self-confident, hard-nosed and intelligent. He/she will an astute business person with strong leadership traits.
A leader with an open, participative and hands-on management style and the ability to get things done without a large staff. A team player attitude with the ability to work with and through others in the organization.
EDUCATION
A CPA and/or MBA are highly preferred.
COMPENSATION
A competitive base salary and a performance-driven bonus component will be offered to attract the right candidate to this position. With the imminent IPO, this is a significant equity opportunity.
