Primary Job Responsibilities:
Teradata is a leading very large scale deep analytics software and system provider. Our team is looking for a strong technical lead who is also an outstanding engineer to build exciting next generation technologies in the analytics platform and data mining areas. This is a great opportunity to apply your software development and machine learning skills to real world problems that require defining and implementing state of the art techniques for mining and understanding massive amount of unstructured, semi-structured and structured data. This position requires a self-starter attitude and an ability to handle ambiguity and working closely with a number of technical team members in Beijing as well as in US.

Besides possessing rock-solid software engineering skills and a passion for excellence, you need to be an innovative thinker, effective communicator and a team player with the ability to work with dynamic teams in an agile and fast paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Architect, design and implement machine learning applications through all phases of the Product Development Life Cycle.
• Technical lead on machine learning and data mining development, delivery and success
• Lead and develop extensible, scalable, reliable analytics platform and product quality software. Excellent problem solving skills; Interact with other teams to define interfaces and understand dependencies Write detailed technical documents
• Help to shape the data mining product requirements, and the technology & implementation approaches in building world class analytics software products.
Required Background and Skills
Essential
• Hands-on development experience in data mining, NLP and machine learning using statistical techniques.
• Master (Ph. D. preferred) in Computer Science with an emphasis in Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, NLP, Statistics, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Very strong development and design skills. Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization techniques. Practical experience in lexical parsing a plus
• Strong Software programming skills (Java, C/C++, Python, SQL, etc)
• Experience in dealing with very large amounts of structured and unstructured data.
Very desirable
• Experience with Hadoop and other Map/Reduce technologies is a plus.
• Knowledge of parallel matrix and graph algorithms
• Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal, at multiple levels of the organization
• Demonstrated ability to help build the team and direct teams to complete critical milestones under pressure with tight deadlines
Additional success factors
• Experience with agile software development methodology (Scrum)
• Demonstrated track records of delivering innovative, elegant solutions working under broad directives with minimal hand-holding or oversight
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a small team context in order to build impressive technologies
